Patches
Patches are in-game collectibles. They are not skill certifications like qualifications, and they are not performance medals. Once obtained, they are kept in your account collection.
Patch Culture
In real aviation culture, squadron patches are part of daily pilot life. They appear on flight suits, jackets, helmets, gear bags, ready rooms, deployment boards, and squadron walls.
They often record or commemorate:
- a squadron or unit;
- a deployment, exercise, or special event;
- a shared joke or morale theme;
- a milestone in a pilot's career;
- a keepsake exchanged between crews.
Patch trading is also part of the culture. Pilots, maintainers, controllers, and visiting units often exchange patches as souvenirs or collectibles.
How Patches Work In Red Flag Sim
In Red Flag Sim, patches are account collectibles. Once you receive a patch, it is kept as part of your pilot collection and can appear in your logbook or future profile displays.
Patches may be awarded through:
- official events;
- module-related rewards;
- special bundles or store rewards;
- future community or multiplayer activities.
Some patches may be common, while others may be tied to a specific aircraft, squadron theme, event, or campaign period.
Duplicates
If you receive the same patch more than once, the game may keep the extra copy as an additional owned item rather than converting it automatically into another reward. This leaves room for future collection features.
Future Direction
The patch system is planned to become more collection-focused over time. Future directions include:
- showing selected patches in profile-related views;
- showing patches in the logbook and collection views;
- event-limited or squadron-themed patch sets;
- friend gifting once the friends system is available;
- possible patch exchange or collection showcase features.
The goal is to make patches a lightweight collectible system that can grow with events, module rewards, and future social features.
